Mumbai , Oct. 8

OILMEALS export declined 25 per cent during the first six months of the current fiscal (April-September 2003), to 4,12,600 tonnes from 5,47,346 tonnes, mainly due to reduction in soyabean crop last year.

In September, oilmeals export was 69,700 tonnes, according to export data released by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEAI).

Soyameal exports during the first half of 2003-04 were 1,62,525 tonnes, down by 41 per cent from 2,76,218 tonnes in the same period last year. Rapeseed meals exports too registered downward trend. They were 2,08,425 tonnes, down by 3 per cent from 2,15,458 tonnes. Groundnut meal exports reached an all-time low of just 850 tonnes, down from 14,525 tonnes. Castor meal exports were 40,800 tonnes, largely same as previous year's figure of 41,145 tonnes.

During the first half of the current fiscal, exports from Kandla were at 307,625 (75 per cent) tonnes.
