Udupi , Oct. 9

THE Director of Department of Horticulture, Bangalore, Dr G.K. Vasantha Kumar, has stressed on the need for change in cropping pattern in the coastal districts of Karnataka.

Presiding over a seminar and workshop on "Potential of tuber crops", jointly organised by the Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, the Department of Horticulture, and the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, here on Thursday, he said that a change in the cropping pattern would help the farmers affected by the crash in the prices of arecanut and coconut.

By-products of agricultural and horticultural produces will make value addition to the product.

A proper promotion is essential to market any product, and this should be applied to agricultural and horticultural products also.
