Truck, bus tyre production up in Sept

TRUCK and bus tyre production registered a marginal improvement in September 2003 at 9.07 lakh tyres as compared to a production level of 9 lakh tyres recorded in August 2003.

The production performance in this category in September 2003 was however lower than the 9.53 lakh tyres produced in July and 9.10 lakh tyres in June 2003. The production in this category in September 2002 stood at 8.23 lakh tyres.

According to the data released by the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers' Association (ATMA), truck and bus tyre exports slipped marginally to two lakh tyres in September from a level of 2.05 lakh tyres in August 2003.

Passenger car tyre production by ATMA member companies in the month of September 2003 stood at 8.19 lakh tyres as against a production level of 8.12 lakh tyres in August 2003.
