HPCL ruling

This is with reference to "SC agrees to review ruling on HPCL" (Business Line, November 18). The ruling has given a new life to public sector unit (PSU) stocks.

The apex court's decision to reconsider the whole issue of divestment may also help the current bull-run in the stock market.

In the past, many small investors burned their fingers by buying PSU stocks at high prices. From time to time, the prices of these scrips fell due to various reasons.

As the Government proceeds on the matter without adequate consensus among coalition partners or the opposition, there can be further hurdles in the process.

The investors who put their money into the divestment candidates should monitor the prices on a day-to-day basis to prevent heavy losses on account of the impending blocks.
