The Hindu Business Line : ESPN using coercion, says IndusInd Media

IN response to the claim by ESPN Software India that it had filed a winding up petition against IndusInd Media & Communications Ltd (IMCL) over non-payment of dues amounting to over Rs 4 crore, IMCL has said that ESPN failed to respond to its letter requesting it to switch on the signals, and "act responsibly... and come to the negotiating table."

In a release, an IMCL spokesperson said that ESPN had "chosen to take an unconscionable step without any notice and without any provocation," and that ESPN is resorting to these "coercive measures as a prelude to increasing rates once more."

The spokesperson also blamed ESPN and other pay channels, which have "resorted to frequent steep increases in their rates," for failing to implement the Conditional Access System.
