Rubber static on low-key activity

THE rubber market turned inactive on Thursday as buyers and sellers remained on the sidelines.

Most of the grades were static including RSS 4 which closed at Rs 52.50 as on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, RSS 5 improved by 50 paise to close at Rs 50.50 against Rs 50 per kg on moderate buying interest.

The Bangkok market closed at Rs 57.86 against Rs 54.06 a kg for RSS 3 on Thursday.

The rubber futures showed signs of recovery following better global markets.

The near month December delivery was quoted at Rs 54.20 (Rs 54.04), January at Rs 55.85 (Rs 55.40), February at Rs 58.15 (Rs 57.61), March at Rs 59.25 (Rs 58.40) and April delivery at Rs 60.10 (Rs 59.32) per kg for RSS 4.

The market turned positive after a weak opening with better volumes.

The spot market rates per kg on Thursday were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 52.50 (Rs 52.50); RSS 5 Rs 50.50 (Rs 50); ungraded Rs 48 (Rs 48); ISNR 20 Rs 51.50 (Rs 51.50); latex 60 per cent Rs 41.50 (Rs 41.50).
