A NATIONAL convention on `Quality Circle for Continuous Improvement' is to be held in the city, between December 4 and 7, by the Madurai chapter of Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI).
Addressing presspersons here, Mr K. Ganapathy, Executive Director, QCFI, said the quality circles provided ample opportunities to the first line employees to display their creative skills and develop themselves while contributing to the growth of the organisation.
The QCFI is concentrating on formation of quality circles in small-scale industries and is currently implementing the concept even in Government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh and in BSNL, Ludhiana. Of the 1.3 lakh industries in the country, only 2,000 have quality circles. The movement is bound to pick up as the benefits are realised, he said.
Three hundred quality circle teams, comprising 2,000 delegates representing leading industries such as BHEL, NTPC, SAIL and Samsung, are expected to take part in the event.
