New Delhi , Nov. 21

IN an effort to facilitate the doubling of two-way trade between the United Kingdom and India, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is sending a 17-member delegation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on a five-day visit to the UK beginning November 24.

The visit of the delegation, led by the Managing Director, Yuken India Ltd, Mr C.P. Rangachar, is a part of the 10-point plan, prepared by the Confederation of British Industry and the chamber for promoting of bilateral trade.

Apart from a participating in a joint CII-CBC seminar, the delegation is also scheduled to have one-on-one business meetings.

The CII delegation will also visit Cardiff, Wales for meetings with the Welsh Development Agency and the Cardiff Chamber of Commerce.

The programme will conclude with meetings with the South Hall Regeneration Partnership and an interaction with the students of the London Business School.

This CII mission has been co-branded with the Commonwealth Business Council.

The five-fold objective of the delegation includes increasing bilateral trade and investment with particular emphasis on the SME sector between India and the UK. Besides, it will also try and understand the opportunities that exist for the Indian SMEs in the UK.

The delegation includes chief executive officers from new knowledge-based sectors, including information technology, services and traditional manufacturing sectors such as engineering, medical equipment and power generation.
