Ranjana takes over as Nabard chief

Mumbai , Nov. 21

MS RANJANA KUMAR, Chairperson and Managing Director of Indian Bank, has been appointed as Chairperson of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.

Ms Kumar, started her career as a probationary officer in Bank of India in 1996, and has served several key positions in the field of commercial banking, international banking, personnel, training etc.

She had earlier served as Regional Manager and Zonal Manager of Bank of India, after which she became the Executive Director of Canara Bank until May 2000.

Ms Kumar has the distinction of being the first woman to head a nationalised bank in India.
