Sun-n-Sand Hotels has tied up with Tata Indicom for WiFi (wireless fidelity) services.

Talking to presspersons, Mr C. Behl, General Manager, Sun-n-Sand, said the Tata Indicom services would allow guests at the hotel to access the Internet from their laptops, PDAs etc from any location within the hotel premises.

He said that the Mumbai outlet of Sun-n-Sand would be `WiFi' ready within six weeks from now. "The contract had been signed for both the outlets on the same day but due to the corporate pressure in Pune, we had decided to go ahead with the Pune outlet first,'' he said.

He added that both these outlets would be under the revenue sharing scheme.

Mr Y.V. Laxminarayan Pandit, Chief Operating Officer, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd, said talks were also under way with other hotel chains for offering the WiFi system. He said WiFi had already been installed at 10 outlets of Barista and that the agreement was to spread it across all Barista outlets in the country. Asked about other plans, he said Tata Teleservices had received approval from the Airports Authority of India for installing the WiFi system in the domestic and international terminals of the New Delhi airport. The terminals would be `WiFi' ready in six weeks.. Approvals were also being awaited from other airport terminals across the country.
