Our Bureau

Chennai , Nov. 30

NUMERIC Power Systems may form a joint venture with its French partner, Merlin Gerin. The nature and scope of the JV is likely to be decided in January, Numeric's Managing Director Mr R. Chellappan told a press conference here.

Numeric produces `uninterruptible power supply' (UPS) equipment. The company also represents Merlin Gerin in India and sources some of the high-end UPS products from the French partner. Conversely, Merlin Gerin also sources some types of UPS products from Numeric for sales abroad.

Now, the partners intend to strengthen their relationship. Mr Chellappan did not want to divulge any details of the proposed JV, on the grounds that Numeric has a confidentiality agreement with Merlin.
