Chennai , Nov. 30

THE Rs 350-crore CMS Computers Ltd has tied up with Bowe Systec of Germany for technology that helps CMS mail out billing or transaction statements to its clients' clients.

CMS' outsourcing division is in the business of printing out telephone and mobile phone bills, insurance premia and credit card statements.

Mr S. Ramadorai, Director, CMS Computers, told presspersons here, "When printing statements, you need to format the data that a client, such as a large bank or an insurance company sends you, print out the statements for individual customers of that company and mail them out."

CMS already has tie-ups with Oce-Technologies of the Netherlands for printing technology and with PrintSoft for its data formatting tools.

The company has also launched the operations of its variable data printing centres. The company's outsourcing division has set up three such centres, one each in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.

Mr Ramadorai, said, "We have invested close to Rs 40 crore in equipment in the last three or four years. In the current fiscal alone, our investments in infrastructure would be about Rs 20 crore."

Commenting on the source of funds, Mr Ramadorai said, "We typically opt for debt since interest rates in the international market are low. We have approximately Rs 40 crore of debt currently."

He clarified that this year CMS would continue its preference for debt but the company was open to a public offering "if the stock market scenario improves. Currently, it isn't good enough for the IT sector."

According to him, CMS has a market share of 80 per cent in the telecom billing and 90 per cent in the credit card statement spaces.
