KOCHI: The policy initiatives launched in the banking sector in the name of second generation reforms have distorted the mass banking and socio-development orientation of banks, according to the All India Bank Employees Association (Kerala) General-Secretary, Mr V.J. Johney. Inaugurating the triennial district conference of the All-Kerala Bank Employees Federation, he said AIBEA would oppose any move to allow FDI in the banking sector as such a policy would lead to control by foreign capital over the savings of the people. The conference passed a resolution demanding the withdrawal of the bank privatisation Bill, a hike in interest rates, revoking of the FDI policy and restoration of right to strike for Government employees.
