Orange to invest Rs 300 cr more in Mumbai circle

ORANGE, the cellular service of the Hutchison Essar group, has announced an investment of Rs 300 crore in the metropolitan circle of Mumbai, which will bring its total investment in the circle to Rs 1,150 crore.

A news release from the company said the group's largest network capacity is in Mumbai, where the fifth switch will be commissioned, taking up network capacity to 17 lakh customers. Cell sites will be increased from 650 to 820 in the circle; and SMS handling capacity tripled.

The group has crossed the 10 lakh subscriber mark in Delhi and in Mumbai, with its all-India subscriber base at over 40 lakh , said the release.
