Mergers & Acquisitions Aircom buys out HPS in jt venture Our Bureau
New Delhi , Jan. 5 THE UK-based Aircom International Ltd has formally announced that it has bought out the 49.5 per cent equity shares of erstwhile HCL Perot Systems (HPS) from their joint venture known as Aircom HPS Wireless Services (AHWS). The new company will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Aircom International UK and henceforth will be known as Aircom International (India) Pvt Ltd. "With the emergence of Aircom India, we plan to continue to penetrate the Indian and SAARC telecommunications markets with more vigour and re-emphasise our expertise and leadership in the wireless business," said Dr Stephen Mockford, Group Chairman & Managing Director. Aircom International (India) will be an end-to-end wireless solutions company. It will offer a full blend of products, consulting, training and support services. For this, the company has also procured the Certificate of Incorporation from the Registrar of Companies and would be fully operational within the first quarter of 2004. "We are in the finalisation of the strategy document with the India team. "We will announce our detailed strategy for the India and SAARC market by the end of this month," added Dr Mockford. The Chief Operating Officer (India & SAARC) and Alternate Director of the erstwhile AHWS, Mr Tarun Singhal's portfolio has been enhanced to Managing Director for Aircom's operations in India and SAARC countries.
