Airlines Marketing - Promotions & Offers Jagson Airlines to offer lower than market fares in North sector Ashwini Phadnis
New Delhi , Jan. 6 THE era of low-cost airfares on some sectors in north India is all set to dawn here soon. Jagson Airlines Ltd. is poised to offer airfares lower than what is charged by the market on at least four routes from Delhi. The airline, which is to shortly launch a three-times a week flight on the Delhi-Jaipur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer sector and another thrice-a-week flight on the Delhi-Jaipur-Udaipur-Rajkot sector plans to charge less than the existing market fares. "Jagson plans to charge Rs 1,150 for a one-way journey on the Delhi-Jaipur sector while a flight between Delhi-Udaipur or Delhi-Jodhpur will cost Rs 3,500. The fares will be lower than what is charged by either Jet Airways, Air Sahara or Indian Airlines," the airline Chairman, Mr Jagdish P. Gupta, told Business Line. The launch of the new services will offer more choices to the passengers. Presently, a passenger wanting to avail of low fares on these sectors has to book several days in advance to avail them. For instance, a person travelling with Indian Airlines on the Delhi-Udaipur sector will have to book the ticket at least 21 days in advance to pay Rs 3,200 in place of the regular fare of Rs 4,345. Similarly, a passenger travelling on the same sector with Jet Airways will have to book the tickets at least 30 days prior to travel to avail of the low fare of Rs 2,830. Jagson, with a fleet of three Dornier aircraft purchased from Germany, hopes to start the new routes later this week. The airline was given a licence in 1992 to operate scheduled services to several destinations, including Kullu and Shimla.
