Performance SAIL registers 7.9 pc growth in iron ore production Our Bureau
Kolkata , Jan. 6 THE Raw Material Division (RMD) of Steel Authority of India Ltd has registered a 7.9 per cent growth in the production of iron ore during the period April-December, 2003-04, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. According to a statement from the RMD, production and despatches of iron ore during this period were 9.26 and 9.24 million tonnes respectively. The iron ore complex of RMD has achieved a growth of 9.4 per cent in December 2003 over December 2002. "Two of the mechanised mines at Kiriburu and Bolani alone recorded the best ever performance producing 2.64 million tonnes and 2.38 million tonnes of iron ore during the first nine months. The mines at Meghahatubunu and Barsua increased production by 12.1 per cent and 19.2 per cent over the same period previous year," the statement stated. Production and dispatches of fluxes such as dolomite and limestone from RMD 7mines have registered growths of 28 per cent and 17 per cent respectively.
