MAJOR global multinational players Electrolux, Caterpillar, Kautex Textron and Eaton plan to outsource auto components worth more than $ 1.3 billion by 2005 from Indian component suppliers.

This was disclosed at the global outsourcing summit organised by the Automotive Components Manufacturers Association (ACMA) on Saturday. Out of these four MNCs, Electrolux and Caterpillar have already been working with ACMA in its efforts to identify potential Indian suppliers. Eaton and Textron were relatively new on the outsourcing scene in India and have also started work with ACMA to locate suppliers.

The range of components required by these four companies include machined castings, water/oil pumps, heavy and simple fabrications, among others.
