Truck, bus tyre production up in November

New Delhi , Jan. 19

TRUCK and bus tyre production staged a comeback in November 2003 to touch 9.15 lakh units, representing a 2.9 per cent increase to the production level of 8.89 lakh tyres recorded in October 2003.

The production level in this category in September 2003 stood at 9.07 lakh tyres.

Production of truck and bus tyres stood at 8.12 lakh units in November 2002.

The data, compiled by the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers' Association (ATMA), show that truck and bus tyre exports too recovered in the month of November 2003 at 1.78 lakh units as against 1.52 lakh units recorded in October 2003.

Exports in this category had touched about two lakh units in September 2003.

Passenger car tyre production also surged in November 2003 to 9.04 lakh tyres from a level of 7.61 lakh tyres recorded in October 2003.
