People Corporate - People S.M. Datta at EID Parry helm Our Bureau
Chennai , Jan. 19 MR S.M. DATTA, former Chairman of Hindustan Lever Ltd, will take over as the Chairman of EID Parry (India) Ltd. The incumbent Chairman of the company, Mr M.V. Subbiah, has retired, "on attaining the age of retirement." Mr Subbiah will also be relinquishing office from the other statutory board positions of the Murugappa group companies — Parrys Confectionery, Parry Agro and Coromandel Fertilisers. Also, the EID Parry board has re-designated Mr P. Rama Babu, Whole-time Director, as `Managing Director' and inducted Mr G. Ramprasad, Vice-President (Parryware) as `Whole-time Director'. Mr M.M. Murugappan and Mr Anand Bhatia have been co-opted as Additional Directors, the company has said in a press release. Meanwhile, EID Parry has reported turnover of Rs 136.20 crore and a net profit of Rs 2.52 crore for the quarter ended December 31. In the nine-month period ended December 31, the company achieved a turnover of Rs 396.70 crore and a net profit of Rs 20.42 crore.
