K.K. Mustafah

Women workers engaged in threshing and winnowing of paddy at Kollankode in Palakkad district. Drought has brought down production of rice in the district, which contributes 34 per cent of the State's total rice production. For want of water, 26,156 hectares of paddy field has been left idle in the district, resulting in a production loss of 1,22,452 tonnes. The State's rice production at present is 7 lakh tonnes as against a demand for 28 lakh tonnes.
