Modern Mills to close yarn unit

Our Bureau

MUMBAI: Modern Mills Ltd has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that its board of directors meeting held on February 27, decided to close its unviable yarn manufacturing unit at Mahalaxmi, Mumbai, with immediate effect.

According to an official, though the yarn manufacturing operation would be wound up, this would not stop the company from trading in textiles. There were about 60 workers at the unit and they would be discharged pending the settlement of wages and other issues.
