Software Business Objects in parleys with telecom firms V. Rishi Kumar
Hyderabad , March 7 BUSINESS Objects, a business intelligence (BI) solutions provider for enterprises, is in parleys with several Indian telecom service providers to offer solutions that help them provide a more focussed customer centric approach. Ms Rani Goel, Worldwide Director of Telecom, of Business Objects, a $ 900-million company, currently touring India, is in discussions with several telcos, told Business Line that the rapid pace at which the Indian telecom market was growing offered a huge opportunity for a solutions provider like Business Objects. "With the country's telecom sector booming and the competition getting cut-throat, service providers want an insight into their operations. The focus now is on increasing the average revenue per user. This assumes greater importance with signs of consolidation in the sector," she explained. "Our solutions leverage the information that is stored in an array of corporate databases, enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management systems. The company has a R&D centre in Bangalore and another centre in Hyderabad," she explained. Business Objects recently completed the acquisition of Crystal Decisions and thereby consolidated the enterprise business intelligence market. India's five-year business intelligence CAGR is estimated at 19 per cent with revenue rapidly growing and expected to touch revenues of $30 million by 2005.
