Telecommunications Net4India chief denies charges Our Bureau
New Delhi , March 8 CHARGED with illegal termination of international telephone calls on Indian mobile networks, the Chief Executive Officer of Net4India, Mr Jasjit Sawhney, today said neither he nor his company was involved in any wrongdoing. "We have been advised by our lawyers not to comment on the matter as it is sub-judice. However, I can clarify that neither me, nor my company has been involved in any illegal activity. We will fight the charges in the court," Mr Sawhney told Business Line. On the basis of a complaint filed by the Tatas-controlled Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), the Mumbai Police Crime Branch had booked Mr Sawhney for running an illegal telephone exchange in the country with the connivance of Ecovox, a Swiss company. The licensed operators lost out revenues to the tune of Rs 3 crore annually from such calls, according to the first information report filed by the Mumbai Crime Branch.
