HYSEA mulls corpus fund, start-up incubation centre

Hyderabad , March 8

THE Hyderabad Software Exporters Association (HYSEA) has drawn up plans to create a corpus fund and an incubation facility for start-ups and small and medium companies and is in the process of charting out a model code of conduct for software services firms on the lines of the code already in place for BPO firms.

The President of Hysea, Mr Shakti Sagar, and other members of the association, addressing a press conference here on Monday, said that this corpus fund and incubation centre would help small companies find their feet. The focus will be on product-oriented companies and this centre would provide mentoring, guidance and support.

While the technology sector was witness to a downturn last year, about 40 new members were inducted to Hysea last year.

Trends indicate that a large number of big companies such as Computer Associates, Computer Sciences Corporation, Bank of America are moving to Hyderabad and Vizag. The effort is directed towards accelerating the growth of the sector, Mr Sagar said.

Under yet another initiative referred to as the Product Leadership Initiative, Hysea helps small and medium companies through mentoring in formulating a road map for their products so that they can reach the customers spread across diverse markets.

Hysea has roped in the services of venture capitalists like Mr Sudhir Sethi and Mr Abhay Hawaldar, to interface with companies.

With regard to the Hysea technology park, which they had planned to develop about three years ago, Mr Sagar said that the park land was not taken up by the association and this land was in turn handed over to some large technology companies by the Government.

"With realty supply far outpacing the demand, small and medium companies were favouring leased premises. This meant that we don't have to take this project up immediately. If the demand crops up, we will have a relook," he said.

Coinciding with the Hysea annual day meet, several technology companies have been chosen for awards. They include — Yash Technologies, SDG Technologies, Valuemomentum Software Services, Triniti Advanced Software Labs, Value Labs, Oracle India, iSpace Software Technologies Ltd., Motorola and Infosys. Special recognition was accorded to GE Capital, HSBC Electronic Data Processing, Infosys, Infotech, Satyam, TCS, Visualsoft and Wipro.
