Mobilisation in co-op sector up in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Deposit mobilisation in the co-operative sector in the State has touched an all-time record with the month-long programme returned a figure of Rs 1137.69 crore on March 31. The mobilisation had amounted to Rs 914.08 crore in the last year.

Announcing this here, an official spokesman said here that during the just concluded season, primary co-operative societies had collected Rs 716.14 crore in deposits, while urban banks collected Rs 128.71 crore, district banks Rs 279.18 crore and the apex State Co-operative Bank, Rs 11.43 crore. This year also saw all districts managing to mobilise in excess of their targeted amounts.

Ernakulam, with Rs 159.51 crore, topped the rankings. Collections by various districts were (in crores of rupees, with individual targets in brackets) as follows: Thiruvananthapuram - 78.42 (20), Kollam - 105 (26), Pathanamthitta - 40.15 (16), Alappuzha - 26.81 (16), Kottayam - 135.69 (80), Idukki - 57.86 (16), Ernakulam - 159.51 (74), Thrissur - 97.51 (46), Palakkad - 43.36 (16), Malappuram - 135.50 (26), Kozhikode - 71.43 (16), Wayanad - 16.21 (6), Kannur - 123.38 (30) and Kasaragod - 35.37 (8).
