New Delhi , April 29

SBL Private Ltd is planning to tap the Rs 400-crore homeopathic remedies market with the launch of a range of medicines for the treatment of cardiac-related ailments, osteoporosis and HIV/AIDS.

And as a first, it has launched a new solution for all kinds of headaches under the RelaXhed brand name.

Speaking to newspersons, Mr Rajneesh Chandan, Head of Marketing, said that initially RelaXhed tablets and drops would be available through prescription, but later the product would be an over-the-counter (OTC) product. The painkiller market in India is estimated to be about Rs 1,000 crore. According to Dr Bina Thomas, Head, R&D, SBL, "This is the first product developed by the company internally. We are working on several different therapeutic areas." The company will soon launch a neem-based product for skin disorders shortly.

SBL currently has a turnover of Rs 35 crore and will consider the option of tapping the capital markets in the next few years. The company is looking at growth by focusing on exports.

It is also planning to file patents for most of its products in both the US and India. It has a technical collaboration with a France-based company Laboratories Boiron and currently has three manufacturing facilities - Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh, Jaipur and Sikkim.
