Broadband Asianet fibre optic link Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Asianet Satellite Communications has commissioned what is being touted as Kerala's first optical fibre backbone for broadband communications. A spokesman for the company said the new backbone would provide high bandwidth connectivity to all parts of the State. The underground fibre would connect 45 centres of Asianet Cable Services across the State and ensure digital quality picture and sound to all its subscribers. At present, Asianet was offering over 80 digital channels and the company proposed to raise this to over 250 in the near future. Live coverage of events, video-voice-data convergence and interactive television facilities too would be extended to the subscribers, the spokesman added.
