Govt to review fertiliser policies

Our Bureau

New Delhi , May 25

THE Government is planning to review the rationale for extending subsidy to the fertiliser sector, the new Chemicals and Fertiliser Minister, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan said here. Outlining his priorities after assuming charge of the ministry on Tuesday, Mr Paswan said he would work towards ensuring timely supply of fertilisers to farmers.

Mr Paswan also said he would review the fertiliser production and distribution policies as well as the decontrolling of urea. Responding to questions on disinvestment in the chemicals and fertiliser sector, he said that profit-making units would not be disinvested. In case of loss-making units a proper review and study would be done, he said.
