THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Insurance Company has sewn up an arrangement with the Kudumbasree poverty eradication project of the State Government under which educated unemployed women from rural areas will be suitably trained to take up "insurance mediator" jobs.
According to Mr M.P. Ramkumar, Senior Divisional Manager, National Insurance, Thiruvananthapuram, 40 trainees members from Kudumbasree have since passed the requisite examination prescribed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA). These women members would be formally given licences at a State-level function to be held at Pathanamthitta on Wednesday.
The Minister for Local Affairs, Mr Cherkalam Abdullah, would inaugurate the function and hand over the IRDA licences to the women members. Among those who would attend are Mr K. K. Nair, MLA, Mr T.K. Jose, Executive Director, Kudumbasree, and Mr M.P. Ramkumar of National Insurance.
