In dire straits

The monsoon brings its share of woes for the fishermen along the Kerala coast. The rains turn the sea too rough for fishing boats like the ones in the picture, idling for about a month now on the Alappuzha coast. The nearly three-month rainy season sees only small boats venturing out in what is frequently lone expeditions riddled with great danger.
