Our Bureau

Athashree Hadapsar is a peaceful location away from Pune's crowded city environment, yet is at a fairly close proximity to the prominent locations such as the railway station, airport or major hospitals and nursing homes.

Pune , June 17

NOW senior citizens across the globe, especially the Indians, need not feel out of place, as Pune-based Paranjape Constructions is now planning to spread its wings and build Athashree, homes for the senior citizens. As a beginning it is planning to set shop in Melbourne in Australia and is expected to begin construction by July this year, Mr Shashank Paranjape, Managing Director, said.

It is planning to gain a foothold in the US market by beginning construction in San Jose, New Jersey and San Francisco, by 2005. Talking to newspersons here, Mr Paranjape said the company has been witnessing a good response from its pilot projects for the senior citizens in Aundh and Bavdhan in Pune and is set to cater to the requirements of the senior citizens in Hadapsar.

The ground-breaking ceremony would be on June 18 and noted that it is planning construction in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Vadodara. Interest seems to have been generated in Karachi also as enquiries have come in, he said.

Mr Paranjape said Athashree Hadapsar is proposed at a peaceful location on the Magarpatta Road, Hadapsar. This sprawling site is away from Pune's crowded city environment, yet is at a fairly close proximity to the prominent locations such as the railway station, airport or major hospitals and nursing homes. The project comprises 200 homes of one, two and three bedrooms, with sizes between 650 sq ft and 980 sq ft. It is expected to complete by 18 months.

Among the highlights of the projects is a modern business centre with all the latest communication capabilities and a putting ground for the golf enthusiasts. These two features have been added after a complete review of the existing Athashree projects, he said. The height of the kitchen platform is adjusted to make it possible to do cooking sitting in a chair or wheel chair so that even the disabled are able to continue with their chores independently, he added.
