`Knowledge' industries meet at Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A workshop on promotion of knowledge-based enterprises, jointly sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), will be held in Coimbatore on Monday.

According to Mr S.V. Balasubramaniam, Chairman of Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT), Sathyamangalam, which is organising the workshop, the meet is being held to promote co-operation between the industry and the educational institutions.

On the second day, the participants would visit BIT and later the PSG STEP here.

The UGC Chairman, Dr Arun Nigavekar and Prof V.S. Ramamurthy, Secretary, DST, are among the participants in the workshop.
