Chennai , June 28

SATYAM Computer Services Ltd on Monday said that it would add 1,500 persons to its existing strength of 2,300 in Chennai.

With this, the city would host close to 25 per cent of the company's total workforce of 16,000, according to the company's Chairman, Mr Ramalinga Raju.

Mr Raju was in the city to inaugurate the company's 1.5 lakh sq. ft centre, which was built by Sri Kausalya Construction Ltd (SKCL) in 99 days.

The centre is located in what is now being called the IT corridor of Chennai, connecting the city to the town of Mahabalipuram.

Delivering the keynote address at the inauguration, Mr Vivek Harinarain, Tamil Nadu IT Secretary, said: "We would like to soon see companies employing 1,00,000 people along this corridor."

The Government has also set aside five million sq. ft for real estate development for IT and IT-enabled services.
