Mumbai , July 16

THE Export Import Bank of India proposes marketing of Indian consultancy services overseas. This is aimed at providing a better exposure to Indian consultants abroad to help them get the assignments of multilateral agencies-assisted projects.

The Bank undertakes programmes to increase the visibility of domestic consultants overseas. Speaking on the sidelines of a seminar on `Development of domestic consulting services', Mr Shankarnarayan R. Rao, Chief General Manager, Exim Bank, said, "We are considering expanding our services in the direction of promotion of Indian consultants overseas. The drive to enhance the present programme of funding the fee of the consultants for projects abroad will increase their visibility in the international market. In addition, the scheme of providing suggestions to countries to hire the services of consultants suggested by the Bank for their projects is also likely to be enhanced."

The seminar was organised by Exim Bank to enhance domestic consulting services in association with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Consultancy Development Centre (CDC).

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Yang Dan, senior consulting services specialist, ADB, said, "In line with the mission of ADB to reduce poverty in the Asia-Pacific Region, they aim to provide technical assistance grants to developing member countries (DMCs) like India". Ms Dan provided insightful advice to the consultants from various areas present at the seminar in respect of enhancing their capabilities to become competitive in the international arena.
