`Value-addition in agriculture must'

THE Chief Executive Officer of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Mr H.G. Shivananda Murthy, has stressed the need for according priority to value-addition in agriculture.

A press release by the Nertravati Grameena Bank said on Thursday that Mr Murthy was speaking at the seminar-cum-workshop on `Financing agriculture in coastal districts', organised by the bank, here recently. Better coordination between banks and government departments is essential in promoting agriculture, he said.

Mr B.B. Mohanty, Chief General Manager of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, inaugurated the programme. The Chairman of Nertravati Grameena Bank, Mr N. Srinivasan, explained the strategies being adopted by the bank.
