Bangalore , July 22 HCL Infosystems Ltd plans foray into the home entertainment market with a slew of launches that spans plasma television, liquid crystal display television, MP3 players and digital cameras. The LCD television will come bundled with a range of software that includes five movies and several songs. However, the company did not detail expected revenue from the new product range in the current fiscal. Boosted by close to 60 per cent growth in sales in the home segment personal computers, HCL Infosystems now aims to penetrate the "new computing segment" through high-end information-communications-telecommunications products, its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ajai Chowdhry, said. "This will be the start of a new genre of products," he added. The company witnessed a surge in personal computer sales in the January-June period as it has grown its dealership to 2,000 during the same time. The company was also bullish on sales of Nokia mobile phones for which it is a distributor in the country. "With the addition of 1.2 million mobile users per month, there is huge scope to grow in that market," Mr Chowdhry said. Commenting on the new excise duty cut announced in the Union Budget and hike in sales tax in the Karnataka State Budget, Mr Chowdhry said that he would plead with the Government to make IT products cheaper. HCL Infosystems also sees good traction in the system integration and services segment in the domestic market, he said.
