Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Water Resources Minister, Mr T.M. Jacob, has said that the Thottapally barrage would be closed immediately to prevent saline water from entering low-lying Kuttanad and damaging crops.

Sandbags would be used to check saline water intrusion through the damaged Thrikunnapuzha lock. The Minister made these announcements after holding talks with people's representatives on steps to be taken to prevent the loss of crops in Kuttanad.
