CBDT may have 3 new members

K.R. Srivats

New Delhi , Aug 2

THE Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) may soon have three new members. Some of the existing members are likely to move to the Settlement Commission for Direct Taxes.

Sources said that Mr A.S. Narang, Mr Sikander Talwar and Mr Jagdish Jha, currently Chief Commissioners of Income-Tax (CCIT), are tipped to become members of the board.

Two CBDT members, Mr N.K. Jain and Mr K. Subramanian, are likely to move to the Settlement Commission, official sources said. Ms Radha Balakrishnan, who was appointed as CBDT member in the first week of June this year, is also likely to become a member of the Settlement Commission. Ms Balakrishnan, who was the CCIT-Chennai, has not taken yet charge as member of the CBDT.
