UPASI annual meet on Sept 7

THE 111th Annual Conference of the United Planters' Association of Southern India is slated for September 7 at Coonoor.

The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr Kamal Nath, will be the Chief Guest.

The Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr E.V.K.S. Elangovan, and the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Mr Oscar Fernandez, have, consented to be Guests of Honour, an association press release said.

The main conference will be preceded by a tea scientific session.

There will also be a combined session on `Inter Planting' for the other members, apart from the commodity outlook session on September 6. This session will be chaired by the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce Mr. Abhijit Sengupta, the release said.
