Eicher sales up 44%

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Aug 2

EICHER Motors Ltd (EML) has registered a growth of 44 per cent in the sales of its commercial vehicles in July 2004 with sales of 1,651 vehicles as against 1,148 in July 2003.

EML's cumulative sales volume for the period April-July 2004 witnessed a 26 per cent increase at 5,308 (4,207 in the corresponding period last fiscal).

"Increasing sales volumes in the traditionally strong L/MCVs coupled with higher HCV sales account for this impressive growth," Mr Rakesh Kalra, Chief Executive, EML, said in a company statement.

"Building on the steadily increasing volumes of Eicher Jumbo 20.16, a 16 T GVW truck, we would be shortly introducing the Eicher Galaxy a 25 T GVW multi-axle truck as well as the Eicher 20.15, a 15 T GVW chassis ideal for a 69 standard seats bus shortly. Both these vehicles have been piloted in the market during the last few months and the results have been very encouraging,' Mr Kalra added.

Eicher Motors Limited is part of the Rs 1,600 crore Eicher Group.
