New Shakti Office software

Our Bureau

CHENNAI: CK Technologies has launched its latest version of low-cost personal computer (PC) operating system that is ten times cheaper than some of the software currently available in the market.

The Shakti Office 1.72 software is priced at Rs 1,995 compared to over Rs 20,000 for Microsoft Office software, said Mr Manoj Annadurai, Managing Director, CK Technologies.

Though Shakti Office has a lot of features similar to that of Microsoft's Office, Mr Annadurai said that his company is not violating copyright of the global software giant. Shakti Office offers PC users the advantages of low cost and bi-lingual capabilities — the latter allows users to switch either to Hindi or Tamil while using English.

According to the company's CEO, Mr Vinod Reddy, Shakti Office 1.72 has seven productivity tools, including SOwrite (word processor), SOcalc (spreadsheet), SOaccess (database) and SOmail (email client). The software is cross compatible and can work with other office suites, including Microsoft.
