APTransco plans load-shedding

HYDERABAD: The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTransco) has once again indicated that it would be resorting to load-shedding as there is loss in power generation to an extent of 1065 MW due to outage of various generating plants in the State.
In a press release here on Tuesday, APTransco stated that a 500 MW unit of the Simhadri Thermal Power Station was forced to go out of service due to boiler super heater tube leak problem. Similarly, a 210 MW unit of Vijayawada Thermal Power Station, 33 MW unit of Vijjeswaram power plant and some of the generating units of the National Thermal Power Corporation, Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Madras Atomic Power Station and Talcher power plant, from which AP draws its share of power, were under planned outage.
Consequently, there was a 700 MW gap in the demand and supply of power forcing APTransco to regulate power supply. The power utility, however, assured that efforts would be made not to disrupt power supply to agricultural operations in particular and electricity consumers in general.
