Rains keep rubber firm

INCESSANT rains all over the plantations kept the spot rubber prices firm on Wednesday. The covering groups and purchase agents turned active once again as the rains would continue according to weather predictions.

The futures market also gained with August quoting at Rs 61.39 (Rs 59.70) a kg. September delivery was quoted at Rs 56.89 (Rs 55.16), October at Rs 54.65 (Rs 53.91) and November at Rs 54.25 (Rs 53.40) for RSS 4.

The spot market rates per kg were: RSS 4 Rs 59 (Rs 58); RSS 5 Rs 56.50 (Rs 56); ungraded Rs 54.50 (Rs 54); ISNR 20 Rs 52 (Rs 52); latex 60 per cent Rs 40 (Rs 40).
