Bangalore , Aug 4

WIPRO has been ranked number one among technology companies for its investor relations function in Asia and across all industries in India by sell-side analysts in the latest Institutional Investor Asia Equities Market Report 2004.

According to a company release, the Institutional Investor Research group is the premier resource of information on equity research in every major market.

Said Mr Suresh Senapaty, CFO, Wipro Ltd, "This ranking is a reflection of the faith reposed by analysts and investors in Wipro's communication and disclosure standards. It also reflects the highest standards of corporate governance that we strive to maintain."

Over 220 sell-side analysts from 23 firms across Asia responded to the survey. The report attempts to provide a definitive overview of performance excellence and important trends in the Asian equities market. There were 14 criteria on which the rankings were done. These included transparency and quality of financial reporting and disclosure, access to senior management, helping understand the long-term company and industry direction, quality of on-going relationship and speed of response to queries.
