German co signs pact with CCMB

THE German major in imaging systems, Carl Zeiss, and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), here have signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct workshops on advanced microscopy and image analysis.

The effort is to sensitise the Indian scientific community with the latest technologies in microscopy and digital imaging.

The CCMB has established the country's first facility for advanced microscopy and image analyses. The equipment for facility acquired from Carl Zeiss will help in examination of normal and disease cells at a very high resolution. In addition, it will help the lab do a range of research work at the molecular level. The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Ocean Development, Mr Kapil Sibal inaugurated the facility on Wednesday.
