Tea Kochi teas spurt on good demand Our Bureau
Kochi , Aug. 8 A GOOD general demand resulted in the spurting of prices of almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 9,30,000 kg on offer in the dust category, there was a good demand for CTCs at barely steady to firm level. Orthodox dusts were dearer. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 54 and Rs 72, medium CTC realised Rs 48-52 and poorer type were quoted Rs 37-44. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 91and Rs 108, while medium BOPD realised Rs 40-42. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 34-35. The leaf sale also witnessed a good general demand and the quantity on offer was 2,92,000 kg. Orthodox medium and highgrown brokens and fannings were steady to firm. CTC smaller brokens and fannings fully firm to dearer by Re 1 to Rs 2. Bolder brokens steady. Exporters including CIS buyers operated with fair strength compared to last week. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 58 and Rs 75, medium orthodox realised Rs 52-65. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 55 and Rs 62, while medium CTC realised Rs 46-54. In the dust category, Kodanad BOPD-CL fetched the best prices of Rs 108 followed by Parkside BOPD-CL by Rs 91. In the leaf varieties, Kodanad BOPF-CL realised the best prices of Rs 99, followed by Tigerhill BOPF-CL by Rs 94.
