eInfochips to set up design centre in Pune

EINFOCHIPS, a provider of ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) design services and embedded systems solutions, has announced its decision to set up a new design centre in Pune, entailing an investment of $1.5 million spread over two years.

"The design centre will be fully operational and ready to execute customer projects by October 2004," a company release said here.

eInfochips currently has a design centre in Ahmedabad that employs over 200 engineers. The centre provides solutions and services to technology companies such as Samsung, Texas Instruments, ATI, Verisity, AMCC, Rambus, Cypress Semiconductor and Navionics.

"The Pune centre will focus on ASIC and embedded solutions in the areas of Storage Area Networking (SAN), wireless communications and consumer multimedia applications," it added.

The statement said that Pune offered a large pool of talented engineers, strong base of excellent engineering colleges and research institutes. "Pune with its proximity to Mumbai and Ahmedabad, makes it an ideal choice for the company's expansion plans,'' it added.

eInfochips had recently expanded its market presence and opened sales offices in Boston and Bangalore.
