Announcements BHEL bags Rs 36-cr SAIL order Our Bureau
NEW DELHI: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged an order from Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) for setting up a 15-MW captive power plant at its steel complex in Bhilai. The power unit is slated for commissioning within a tight schedule of 18 months. The contract, valued at over Rs 36 crore, entails detailed engineering, dismantling of civil foundations of the existing turbine, civil construction work, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a steam turbine generator set, HT switchgear, uninterrupted power supply unit, battery system, related auxiliaries and balance of plant at the power station of Bhilai steel plant. The scope of work also envisages suitable interconnection with the existing network of steam, water and electrical systems. The entire equipment under the contract, according to a BHEL statement here, has to meet stringent technical specifications laid down by SAIL to ensure quality power required for the steel plant. The main equipment is to be manufactured and supplied by BHEL's Hyderabad plant, while the distributed digital control system will be supplied by its electronics division at Bangalore.
