Coca-Cola is `best pvt co'

NEW DELHI: Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd has been adjudged the `Best Private Company' by the Tamil Nadu Government for its contribution to communities in providing employment opportunities to physically challenged people, the company said in a statement here.

The Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, presented the award to the company.

Speaking on the occasion, the Region Vice-President of Coca-Cola India, Mr Jaspal Singh, said, "This award is a great recognition and motivation for us to further initiate such corporate socially responsible initiatives in the State."

The company employs 88 people with hearing and speaking disabilities as Special Inspectors at the Nemam plant near Chennai. They have been trained by the company to observe bottles and check for any foreign particles during quality checks.
